Ok, new band I am falling in love with. if ANYONE can find me a healthy torrent or rapidshare for No More Kings would be AWESOME INDEED.

Examples of awesomness: Here's a video about Johnny from the First Karate Kid. The intro video is a little silly, but the song itself is awesome and catchy.

And a happy animated video for Michel (Jump In) about someone trying to be a superhero. Badly.

A seriously AWESOME music video. The song doesn't do much, but seriously- watch how this is put together. Most of it is via webcam, and those are real fans of the band featured.

An adorable and awesome Marriage Proposal. I hope their relationship is one of theatre and silly things, because if not I would have killed him. But adorable and awesome and come on, it's DISNEYLAND!

Chicken Chicken Chicken, as referred to during the Scary Shoot

Total Eclipse of the Heart (literal Version) Better than Take On Me because, well, the video is WAY crackier.

FONZIE'S BEEN CLONED!

So, bad news is that Otakon sent me my panel schedule for the con. And Kevin and I are scheduled to talk from 9am till 11am on FRIDAY.
Considering I won't be arriving until 12 sometime, this is the bad news.

The good news is that I can now probably schedule another shoot or two for Friday, and I'll have a bit of breathing room during the con, since I was kinda worried about how busy I'd be.

And lastly, semi random: Anyone interested in helping me out with photoshoots at the con? Holding lights and blinding people?

For people arriving at Otakon on Thursday/Are buying a pass early Friday

Can I plead for someone to buy me a badge when you pick up yours, so I don't have to freak about the lineup and getting to photoshoots? I can paypal you in advance, or give you cash at con. This would be for people buying at the door, since I'm not pre-regging.
I will love you forever!

Completely Separate:

This is damn awesome. Happy (belated) Canada Day.

Finally starting to change over to Dreamwidth- it took a while, mostly due to being moved to the US for a month after getting one. I am so behind on some things (like invites X_X)

ANYWAY. I am TRYING to get things done around the house, so, uh, if people want to help motivate me? I'll take pictures as I get things done and post em or something. I'm just struggling to keep motivated. I've made some fleexe hats, am waiting for buckram to arrive, and am currently working on Cindy who shall be worn on Friday of Youmacon. Jia, Avianna, Ryn, Saeru, and I will be doing Saga Frontier cosplay. If you're interested in joining in, you can find a bunch of character art here. the designs are pretty Amano-ish, so we're interpreting from that. (I'm adding more red to my costume than leaving the watercolour tone for example.) The only characters I know are taken are Rose, Doll, Cindy, and I think Orlouge, Rouge and Zozma.

So yeah, if you're interested in joining in the fun, I think the invite's pretty open, if you're interested in doing the costumes.

Hope everyone had an awesome pride!

So, Ebert posted his review of Transformers II, and I have to say, it's really amusing, and sadly damning. the early reviews were right, which makes me mope- but hey, the first movie was enjoyable!
For those who are link phobic- my favourite lines:

"Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" is a horrible experience of unbearable length, briefly punctuated by three or four amusing moments. One of these involves a dog-like robot humping the leg of the heroine. Such are the meager joys. If you want to save yourself the ticket price, go into the kitchen, cue up a male choir singing the music of hell, and get a kid to start banging pots and pans together. Then close your eyes and use your imagination."

"The dialog of the Autobots, Deceptibots and Otherbots is meaningless word flap. Their accents are Brooklyese, British and hip-hop, as befits a race from the distant stars."

"They...make speeches like this one by John Turturro: "Oh, no! The machine is buried in the pyramid! If they turn it on, it will destroy the sun! Not on my watch!" The humans, including lots of U.S. troops, shoot at the Transformers a lot, although never in the history of science fiction has an alien been harmed by gunfire."

And my favourite (and ties in to a lot of the reports coming back) is:
"There are many great-looking babes in the film, who are made up to a flawless perfection and look just like real women, if you are a junior fanboy whose experience of the gender is limited to lad magazines."

Anytime I start to worry about this whole photos-at-con thing, I get a weekend like Otakon, where if everyone pulls through I'm actually overbooked. It's a kind of relief, in one hand, and it means I'm making a bit of money to bring home as well.

And now, because I'm a curious cat:
Dress up doll Meme from [info]stillvisions

You just received a brand new doll who makes their own costumes, me!

- What 3 costumes would you dress me in? (Pictures please!)
- What series / versions are they?
- Why would you want to see me in that costume?

If you are reading this right now, you have more luxury than someone in Iran could ever hope for right now. If you are watching TV or a video on youtube, updating your status on Facebook, Tweeting, or even texting your friend, you are lucky. If you are safe in your home, and were able to sleep last night without the sounds of screaming from the rooftops, you need to know and understand what is happening to people just like you in Iran right now.

They are not the enemy. They are a people whose election has been stolen. For the first time in a long time, a voice for change struck the youth of Iran, just as it did for many people in the United States only seven months ago. Hossein Mousavi gained the support of millions of people in Iran as a Presidential candidate. He stands for progressiveness. He supports good relations with the West, and the rest of the world. He is supported with fervor as he challenges the oppressive regime of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

On Friday, millions of people waited for hours in line to vote in Iran's Presidential election. Later that night, as votes came in, Mousavi was alerted that he was winning by a two-thirds margin. Then there was a change. Suddenly, it was Ahmadinejad who had 68% of the vote - in areas which have been firmly against his political party, he overwhelmingly won. Within three hours, millions of votes were supposedly counted - the victor was Ahmadinejad. Immediately fraud was suspected - there was no way he could have won by this great a margin with such oppposition. Since then, reports have been coming in of burned ballots, or in some cases numbers being given without any being counted at all. None of this is confirmed, but what happened next seems to do the trick.

The people of Iran took the streets and rooftops. They shout "Death to the dictator" and "Allah o akbar." They join together to protest. Peacefully. The police attack some, but they stay strong. Riots happen, and the shouting continues all night. Text messaging was disabled, as was satellite, and websites which can spread information such as Twitter, Facebook, Youtube, and the BBC are blocked in the country. At five in the morning, Arabic speaking soldiers (the people of Iran speak Farsi) stormed a university in the capital city of Tehran. While sleeping in their dormitories, five students were killed. Others were wounded. These soldiers are thought to have been brought in by Ahmadinejad from Lebanon. Today, 192 of the university's faculty have resigned in protest.

Mousavi requested that the government allow a peaceful rally to occur this morning - the request was denied. Many thought that it would not happen. Nevertheless, first a few thousand people showed up in the streets of Tehran. At this point, it is estimated that 1 to 2 million people were there. Mousavi spoke on the top of a car. The police stood by. For a few hours, everything was peaceful. Right now, the same cannot be said. Reports of injuries, shootings, and killings are flooding the internet. Twitter has been an invaluable source - those in Iran who still know how to access it are updating regularly with picture evidence. People are being brutally beaten. Tonight will be another night without rest for so many in Iran no older than I am. Tonight there is a Green Revolution.

I wish there was more I could do, but at least I can pass along information, so that those of us who do sit in cosy ignorance of the world around because it's frustrating or unimportant or doesn't pertain to them can at least realize how damned lucky we are.

I am in Toronto once more! I have left the land of high fructose corn syrup and shaky net connections to my lovely abode here. Which is going to be a hell of a lot of work.

Note: I've not really had anything resembling stable internet sinnce the 16th of May. If there are things I need to see, please feel free to ink me to them here.

VERY LONG REPORT TO COME.

Sleep now.
