Tomorrow after work I HAVE to clean. With people coming up during the holidays, my apartment is a massacre. I still don't care about my spare too much, but my kitchen and living need a lot of work. I have to clean/clear the floors, dust, do dishes, clean the bathroom, etc, all between 9 and midnight after work tonight. Since thursday after work we are all going right to mom's to have x-mas dinner. Then I'm staying over mom's that night into Christmas day. I may leave early, but I'm going to try and watch more You're Beautiful with Julie in the afternoon before people come over that night. So really I only have tonight to finish or I'll be in trouble.

Tiff, Tanya, and I finished Bad Couple monday night and it was an amazing drama!! It was funny, serious, a lonely-maker, and overly sad at times. I did not expect all these emotions from a series. Usually it's the same old go where I am jealous of the main characters relationship, and find them overly adorable and want that myself. Although that is still true in this drama, the serious/sad aspect of it made it so much more real and appealing. It wasn't just a dream world, and it really pulled at my heart-strings in many angles. And no one was overly hot or physically attractive at first glance. They were appealing because of their personality and therefore, from that, made them attractive.

To me, this series was a rare find, and a rare gem in my mind. It leaves a lastly impression that one wants from a series. I'm very glad I watched it.

Oh, and I got my secret santa present from Tiff on sunday. I got a new vampire book series "House of Night". Thanks tiff, now I have to find time to finish the Twilight series, Maximum Ride, and now these 5 books, while trying to learn Korean and dances. LOL. Oh, she also got me a picture of F4 from Boys Over Flowers. They are quite tasty. And speaking of which, my box sets of BoF shipped yesterday with the necklace and earings. I'm can't wait to get it. I'm more excited for the $12 necklace that the dvds, even with the special extras. I just think it's an awesome necklace, and I'll probably get comments on it and people won't know it's from a k-drama. LOL.

I'm flying out tonight to the UK. I'll hole up in the middle of nowhere with my children and ex-wife and my mother as well, and probably be off-the-internet the whole time. There will be no TV in the middle of nowhere, so I will miss Doctor Who and miss "Statuesque" on Sky1 (10 pm Christmas Day).

Then I fly from the UK to Boston in time for Amanda's New Year's Eve gig with the Boston Pops. It looks like an amazing evening, and "Statuesque" will get its American premiere on a big screen as one of the evening's many entertainments (here's the Boston Pops page listing all the stuff that'll be happening that night).

Trying to deal with the last things I have to do before I get out of here. (Also realised very late last night that the problems I've had reading comics for the next Year's Best American Comics that I'm guest editing has nothing to do with losing my love for comics and everything to do with the fact that somewhere in the last year I must have started needing reading glasses for small print and had not realised this. I found a pair of reading glasses and the world became one with good, easy-to-read comics in it once again... I suppose more things like this will happen as I age. How odd.)

Its been a whirlwind year.
I've always been known to keep myself busy, but I feel like this year took the top.

Lets Recap, shall we:
-I visited Europe, twice, and visited London and Paris.
-Flew 9 times. thats 32,600 miles in the air.
-Traveled and stayed in 11 states.
-Of the 52 weekends of the year, I spent only 26 of them in New York City. and I live there.
-I attended 2 weddings, and was a bridesmaid in one of them
-I attended 15 conventions: 11 Anime, 3 Comic and a Cosplay Ball
-I took 28,600 photos at thus said 15 conventions.

and I worked 40hours a week. plus editing thus said all photos. lets not mention my weekend visits to Maryland and Wheeling. or the Hamptons. I even had time to take a hat class at FIT.

oh and I cosplayed, which means I somehow found time to sew amongst all this

the future...2010.
I should hope that the next year to be somewhat calmer then my last 12 months, but we've got a redesign at work. and Katsu will be upon us before you know it. perhaps after March, I may be able to slow down.

This is possible schedule:
02 - Katsucon (cosprints)
04 - Tekkoshocon (cosprints)
04 - C2E2 (marvel)
05 - AnimeCentral (cosprints)
05 - Fanime
06 - AnimeNext (cosprints)
07 - SDCC (Marvel)
07 - Otakon
09 - dragon*con (personal and Marvel is getting me VIP hookup, yes!)
10 - Nyaf/NYCC (marvel, i will non-existent at nyaf as I need to work upstairs)
11 - AnimeUSA (cosprints?)

as for cosplay. I love doing it and hanging out with my friends. but I hate having to figure out photoshoots and groups. and there are way too many photographers out there who make decisions that irritate and anger me. As a photographer, I try to make sure each cosplayers gets the equal amount of time in front of the camera, no matter if its a paid photoshoot or not. but not all photographers have the ability to do this. I end up being slightly put off in almost all cosplays I wore this year. So, with this in mind, I am only allowing myself to make more casual costumes and one or two big ones for d*c. I'm sure I'll end up making more, but I do not want to end up like I was at Otakon, d*c, AND ausa, where I was sitting off to the side while the other cosplayers were getting their photos taken. Its disheartening.

but for now...these 2 are my def plans:
Lady Gaga for Katsu and the [info]gaggleofgagas

and Callisto from persona 2 for d*c

and yeah, I'm half way through with Ausa photos...

Dear Santa...

Dear Santa,

This year I've been busy!

Last Thursday I had a shoot-out with rival gang lords on the 5 near LA (-76 points). In August I caught a purse-snatcher who stole [info]seiizur3's purse (30 points). In June I ate my brussel sprouts (1 points). Last month I donated bone marrow to [info]sakurak in a life-saving procedure (300 points). In October I gave [info]maikor a kidney (1000 points).

Overall, I've been nice (1255 points). For Christmas I deserve an XBox 360!

Sincerely,
Sirius_dragon

HAPPY BIRTHDAY [info]rewritten [info]cerulean_sky and [info]hasu!!! ♥ ♥ ♥ :D I hope you all have an awesome day!

**TokyoTosho torrent site is down, but PH omake episode comes out today. How am I supposed to find it now, sob sob. The other sites suck. ;A;

**I CLEAN MY SHOWER WHILE I AM USING (TAKING A SHOWER) IT. APPARENTLY THIS IS INCREDIBLY WEIRD. Is anyone else guilty of that? Lol. I know a few people who brush their teeth while in the shower which is supposedly strange too. I brush my teeth at the sink though, haha. I'm already in the shower and it's going to have to get rinsed out when I clean it any way, so I figure it's killing two birds with one stone? See, there is logic! I put the milk in first when I have cereal which I still get shit for also. It doesn't make sense to me to do it the other way around, lmao. Then you can't see how much milk is going in and some of the cereal might end up dry! D: Tch!

In December of 2001, Anne I were really struggling financially. It had already been a pretty lousy year, as far as work went, and after September 11th, things only got worse. As Christmas got closer, it was clear that we simply couldn't afford to put many things under the tree for our kids, let alone each other.

One night around the second weekend of December that year, Anne and I had a long talk about the impending holidays. We never wanted the holidays to be about stuff, anyway, so we used the opportunity to introduce the concept of "Little Christmas" to our kids. We told them that, contrary to what television told them, it wasn't about shopping and things, as much as it was about spending time with people you love (and music, and spiced cider, and walking through the neighborhood at night to look at all the pretty lights.) Little Christmas began as a financial necessity, but we discovered that putting the emphasis on the holiday "spirit" rather on the holiday "stuff" made us all happier, and we pretty much removed ourselves from the consumerism that bummed out Charlie Brown so much in 1965.

Even though things eventually got better, we crossed a Rubicon that year, and we never went back. Instead of submerging ourselves in Christmas Crap, we got a few gifts for each other, but we always did some sort of cool thing together as a family, like a trip to the Grand Canyon, or a night out with my parents to see a play. The idea was that Christmas Crap usually gets old and dusty, but the memories we created doing something together would last for the rest of our lives, and that's a better gift to give or receive than anything we could get at the store.

This post From The Vault features a portion of a post I read on this week's Radio Free Burrito, about our 2006 Christmas trip to Julian, in San Diego County, which included a day at the San Diego Wild Animal Park with my brother, his wife, and my parents:

We stayed at the Wild Animal Park until it got dark. On the way out, Nolan came over to me and he said, "I'm really glad we came here today."

"So am I," I said.

"I wasn't all that excited when you told us what we were doing," he said, "but now I'm really glad we did this. I've had a lot of fun today."

"Yeah, your mom and I were a little bummed out that you weren't into doing this when we told you about it," I said, "but we were pretty sure you'd like it once you got here."

"Well, I just wanted to spend the weekend with my friends," he said, "because I'll be gone all next week and I won't get to see them."

"I get that," I said.

"But it was totally worth it to come down here. Thank you."

"I'm really glad you told me that, Nolan," I said.

He smiled, walked over to Anne, and told her the same thing. Then he told my mom.

Nolan is 15, chronologically and in every other sense, and I feel like I'm dealing with something from another planet more often than I'd like these days, so it really meant a lot to me that he made the effort to let the people who pulled the trip together know that he enjoyed it, instead of finding lots of reasons to be sullen and unhappy because . . . well, that's what teenagers do, if I remember correctly.

After dinner that night, we drove back up to Julian, and the rest of my family drove back to their hotel down in the valley. When we got back to the B&B, we put another fire in the stove and watched A Charlie Brown Christmas together. As much as I've loved that special my entire life, this was the first time I watched it and really felt its message about the meaning of Christmas.

We're not religious, and we're not into the consumerism of the holidays, so it would be easy to feel like we're not part of the whole Christmas thing, but as we sat there, basked in television's warm glowing warming glow, and drank hot apple cider together, we were surrounded by the joy of the season.

Christmas related:
I have finished my christmas shopping, I finished the other day at walmart with mom at like 3am. LOL The only person left is Matt, and I know what I wants to get I just have to get to the mall in the daytime.
Other than that everyone is bought for.

Urg...I am not even in the mood for christmas. I srsly cannot get into the spirit this year, the main thing I want more than anything is my room downstairs to be finished...not happening anytime soon.

K-pop related:
I got two VERY AWSOME posters of Junsu from Tanya for christmas...omg they make me so damn happy I could cry. I wants a room to hang them in. Also poor Daesung keeps starring at me and also wants a home. -_-;;

I also need to update my iPod AGAIN it seems just as I get used to the songs I have on it, tiff and jack play like all these more new awsome ones. I cannot keep up with anything.

Room related:
All of the drywall is up now, the room is semi cleared and I did 2 coats of the drywall putty stuff last night. I just have to do another few coats tonight, fix the spots on the celing then after it dries, sand it all.
I have to get a loan of a dihyumid-a-fier so that the floor can finish drying out. Anyone have one to lend? Plz?
After that my mom bought me paint today, so I hope to have it painted maybe boxing day? I doubt it will happen but holy hell I need a fucking room.
When the floor is dried up I can sweep it and then put the floor down and then it's moving time! XD of course I am being hopeful and this is of course pending if everything goes as planned.
I needs my own larger space with MY stuff in it plz, okaythx.

Yeps thats all I can think of.
Besides the fact I am all deppresso and glum for the past while.
Work is getting to me and I just feel like I should become a hermit or give up or something...I duno..rant?

Anyway bai bai.

I am home!!!!

Well, I was home yesterday but I was too busy being home to post =P

All in all, flying instead of taking the train to save time saved me...1 hour. Maybe.

However, I did get to spend the night in a giant king sized bed instead of a cramped single seat. And I got to shower. And there was a free breakfast. So I think I still came out on top, as much as I love the train.

Jes! We need to get together! You interested in Sherlock Holmes when it comes out?

From an interview with Terry Gilliam: MJ: A project you've turned down and regretted it. TG: None. MJ: A project you took on and regretted. TG: I always swore I would never work with the Weinsteins. That was my regret, not the film [The Brothers Grimm]. MJ: A movie other than Quixote that you're dying to make. TG: Am I still dying to do anything? It has to be either The Defective Detective or Good Omens. They're both scripts that I've got sitting here that I've never gotten off the ground. All this talk about that new Avatar movie got into my brain...lol.

Wilson's Avatar ;-)

Organized a shoot this last Sunday. Sorry if I was a bit anal with driving up together. But
honestly I don't know that mountain very well. And who knows if we would even get cell
phone service up there. GPS wouldn't have helped either..since there aren't really addresses
up there to look up. Heck I couldn't even follow my own directions up there. But now that I
know the mountain a little better maybe next year I'll organize a cosplay snow shoot with
many more people. And we can just meet there.

Thanks wayne for the CF card...your a life saver. Thanks Camille for taking time out to
hang with us even though you and Eddie don't get much alone time. Thanks wilson for driving.
Thanks to Chloe for making Lauren prettier. And thanks everyone else for comming out.
Oh well enough blabbering...hope you enjoy the photos.
